St Georgians

The St Georgians

The St Georgians (formerly known as The Old Girls Union) was formed in 1929, with a twofold purpose – keeping former students in touch, and raising funds for the school. Currently there are just over 500 members. The cost of Life Membership is a one off payment of $25.00. To join, please download the membership Form. A number of year groups have a Year Coordinator who endeavour to bring together the students from their starting year.

Committee meetings are generally held on the fourth Thursday of the month, during school terms. We currently meet during the day at The St George Leagues Club, Kogarah. These meetings are open to all former students, with voting rights limited to Life members. We are always keen to meet new members, and look forward to seeing you there!

Annual Reunion Lunch Report

Each year we muster all former students and staff to our annual reunion luncheon. This year -  a very special year for the school celebrating 100 years of quality education for young women -  we expected a larger than usual crowd so moved our venue to Doltone House Hyde Park in the City. The event was held on Saturday, 23 July 2016. The room had a lovely ambiance that helped create another successful day. We were welcomed with a glass of bubbly and were served a delicious three-course meal. Our thanks go to the venue and staff for being accommodating, friendly and efficient in every aspect of the day's festivities. Numbers were certainly higher than usual with 535 attendees! Their years at St George ranged from girls who began high school in 1932, to those who left in 2011. Quite a range!

Naturally, we had a chance to stand up once again and sing the school song. A stirring rendition, adding vitality and a renewed sense of comaraderie to the room. The School Captain led this year’s roll call when we ask the ladies to stand with their starting year cohorts. There was much shared laughter and cheering as each year stood to be recognised. So many life long friendships were formed in those high school days! Many groups went on to make a night of it in the city. We are all looking forward to next year's luncheon!
